At the time Rob was working at Volkswagen Australia in advertising under the guidance of Aussie racing legend Allan Moffatt. His role was to build the profile of VW and it’s dealer network throughout Australia. A team of hardy Type 3’s put in top performances in the 1964 Ampol Trial which helped build the Vee Dub’s reputation as a bullet proof little car.

In ‘64 VW enjoyed bumper sales - selling an incredible 31,419 cars in Oz. As a reward for his efforts Rob enjoyed driving a range of souped up Moffat modified Beetles around the company test track.
